Rainford Solutions Appoints New Production Manager

We are pleased to announce we have strengthened our production team with the appointment of Tony Gaskell as Production Manager.

Due to the growing demand for our existing products and the number of new products entering production Tony’s wealth of experience in lean manufacturing is a real asset.

Tony’s appointment is the latest step Rainford Solutions has taken to manage their rapid growth in recent times. The company recently invested in an additional site and new machinery, which can provide faster turnarounds and more flexible service for their customers.

New Production Facility Boosts Up Capacity

We have just expanded our operations to include the opening of an extra 13,500 square feet site to its already existing 80,000 square feet facility.
When so many manufacturing businesses are moving their production abroad our Lords Fold site is a result of an ongoing commitment to the UK based production allowing our clients an advantage in communication, more control over projects, cost savings and greater flexibility as well as direct contribution to the local economy. This fully equipped industrial site has welcomed a new fully automated specialist bending machine for its heavy duty work to improve processes.
The new facility is now fully operational.

Unmanned Access Control and Asset Tracking Module

We have just completed a pre-production model of an exciting high tech product called an ePod. This unmanned, self contained, self-service rental / hire portal has been a result of cooperation between Codegate- a software developer and system integrator specialising in mobile computing and track & trace; and Speedy- equipment hire and support services company. We have used our engineering expertise in the area of modular enclosure design and integration to make this novel concept into a fully operational unit.

Connecting with the Oil & Gas Industry

The EIC Connect Exhibition, which took place in Manchester on the 27th and 28th of November, has been a great experience for our delegate. The exhibition gathered operators & contractors from the Oil & Gas industry outlining their future project plans. As the fuel exploration conditions are getting tougher the industry is centring around innovative ways of running its processes. It was a great opportunity to find out how Rainford Solutions’ broad capability can support many major operators within the demanding energy industry. We are looking forward to the next EIC event to share our expertise with other participants and to expand our ever growing portfolio of projects.

The successful candidate will work in the newly formed “New Business Group”, a group solely aimed at looking for new business in both new and existing markets from end users OEM and partners who have not done business with us before. The person will be joining a highly focused but small group of sales oriented individuals who want to achieve maximum success. It is therefore essential that the individual fits in and gets a buzz from being part of a team to win business.

The ideal candidate is an engineer with some sales experience and the drive required to make the move to the next level and combine their engineering skills with that of the commercial world.  As this is a new role and the first appointment of this kind there is an excellent opportunity for promotion as the team grows. You should only consider this role if you like the challenge of working in a busy environment and if you are prepared to put the work in to achieve personal and company success.

Leaving Our Mark on One of the Fastest Broadband Networks in the World

Broadband 4 Rural North (B4RN), for which Rainford Solutions has recently delivered Fibre To The Home (FTTH) enclosures, offers a unique opportunity to sponsor a metre of the duct in return for having a signature put on the cord. Although the evidence is soon to be buried it is a nice gesture to contribute to the scheme where rural meets global. Health and Safety continues to be a high priority at Rainford Solutions with our safe system improving steadily over the last two years. The new welding extraction system is fully operational and has made a great improvement to air quality in the welding shop.

Our Cabinets Supporting Countryside Broadband Network 

The digital divide has long been a concern amongst communities in UK. In order to tackle this problem, local residents of Lancashire set up a non-for-profit organisation B4RN, which will provide their houses with the modern fibre-optic network. We are proud to deliver our FTTH cabinet to B4RN, the first of its kind ‘Broadband for Rural North’ project.

Rainford Solutions’ first enclosure, supporting country side broadband network is already in place at the Quernmore location. Its landscape friendly design helps to keep the rural views intact while providing top performance for all housed fibre optics. ‘These fibre-only cabinets (together with the full-capacity buried ducts) are a far neater solution providing a higher reliability, future-proofed solution for generations to come. State of the Art Japanese Equipment Significantly Increases Our Capacity

With a state of the art new Amada punching cell Rainford Solutions has significantly increased its manufacturing capacity. This energy efficient Japanese machinery helps take the fabrication part of the production process to the next level.
The machine cell is the first in the country and provides both versatility along with reliability. The cell configuration guarantees “lights out” (unmanned) operation with modest energy consumption. Moreover, the operation of the punching cell reduces labour costs and eliminates certain secondary operations completely.
Rainford’s new manufacturing cell along with a series of new folding machines have significantly increased Rainford’s production capacity. This boost in output allows the rapid production of more complex enclosure designs and ensures shorter lead-times in response to our customers’ demands.
Rainford Solutions can achieve much higher capacity without compromising on its already outstanding quality. “Our telecom clients need bespoke enclosure designs to meet the challenging timescales associated with the rapid development of new technologies. Our responsiveness is a key for the success of these projects” says Steve Blackburn, Rainford Solutions’ Operations Director.

Design & Manufacture Contract for First Great Western Trackside Cabinets Awarded

Rainford Solutions has recently been awarded a new contract to design and manufacture External Track Side Cabinets for the First Great Western rail network.  Some 100 sites will be equipped with CATV and display systems during 2011.

Smart Metering Cabinets Undergoing Trials

The recent shipment of Smart Metering Cabinets was well received by our customer and they are now undergoing trials in the UK.  Production volumes are expected during 2011 should the trials prove successful.

Rainford Rides the Broadband Revolution

BT's commitment to roll out Ultra Fast Broadband and Ethernet Networks has resulted in further production commitment to Rainford Solutions for cabinets and our innovative Overhead Cable Management System.  The number of sites in which this has been installed is fast approaching 2000 around the UK.

Rainford Solutions wins contract to supply High Security Cabinets

Rainford Solutions has been successful in winning a 3 year contract to supply 'High Security Cabinets' to a major UK OEM.  Rainford is providing both manufacture/integration and installation services as part of the contract.

Number Plate Recognition Trials Successfully Completed

Rainford Solutions has successfully completed the design and prototyping of roadside cabinets for the deployment of Number Plate Recognition (NPR) network across the UK.  The network will be used to reduce crime.

Traffic Control Cabinets and Pedestrian Crossing Systems - Production Orders Awarded

Recent design and prototyping of both Traffic Control Cabinets and Pedestrian Crossing Systems has increased Rainford Solutions' presence in the Highways market sector in the UK and triggered volume production orders.
